My headset quit playing game sounds but it lets me hear others talk. How can I fix this?

My mic is picking up regular sounds like the game play but it wont let me talk or hear other people what could be the problem?

Gunz is right. It definitely does. set it up that way last night and it did work. But every time my teammates in my party talked, the game gets quiet as the party chat takes over the sounds. I couldn't hear gun shots or foot steps at that point. So next
game, I turned it off and set it to headset only. I like that option better.

Correction. I can still hear game sounds on my new headset. I just can't hear other people talk.
