Hello, how are you? My name is Mateus. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Ask your friend to check their order history via the link below.

    https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders

If the items appear as purchased, check your console notifications, check the email of the account that received the gift as well, if there is nothing, ask your friend to request a refund via the link below.

After he gets his money back, tell him to try to send you the gift one more time, maybe there was a glitch during the transaction.

Note: Refunds are typically issued for requests made within 14 days of the purchase date for games in which you have not accumulated a significant amount of game time.

For single-use items (such as consumables and in-game currency), your claim is likely to qualify only if the consumable has not been redeemed or used.

*Thank you in advance for contacting the community, I hope this can help you.

    My account balance.

If you spend the gift cards on the item you intended to buy and make that account my home xbox you can do that as you can't move the funds or you can gift the item to your account instead meaning it will be purchased on your account.

Since you redeemed the code, it would not be possible for them to get a refund.
