My Gamertag was banned for being “Offensive” and now I have to repay to change it again?

I’ve had the gamertag “Reptard” for about 6 years, and it was just recently banned due to it having “****” in the name. I can see where Microsoft is coming from with banning the name, it’s whatever. What I don’t understand is how their going to ban my gamertag,
and then make me pay for a new one, that’s ridiculous, I’ve have friends in the past have theirs banned and have always received a free change, so why haven’t I?

Banned 5 year old gamertag, now forced to pay for name change. Enforcement team = a joke

If my gamertag was offensive you should have banned it when I made it 5 years ago in 2011.

If my gamertag was offensive the second Rolf Harris got convicted in july 2014 you should have banned it then.

To wait to 2016 and ban my gamertag for people offensive then have the audacity to say I have to pay out of my own pocket to change my gamertag, you won't even give me a free gamertag change.

Disgusting.

Forcefull name change

basically I been told to post in here via support chat. Woke up this morning to find Xbox had changed my gamertag due to them thinking its offensive. What I find offensive and out of order is now if I want to change my gamertag I have to pay £7.99. I've
been Xbox live member for over 8 years. Feel like all loyalty is nothing to Xbox. If I'm being forced to change my gamertag because they find it offensive then they should let me do it for free so upset and angry

Yes. If you have an offensive gamertag, you are required to pay to change it to something else.

This prevents abuse. Coming to the forums will not result in a free gamertag change.

Please note in past, you were able to get a free gamertag change, but it was prone to abuse with people picking eqaually offensive gamertags.

If you wish to change it you will need to pay $10 CAD

Hey CleanBunny33590,

It sounds like to me that this was a forced gamertag change, and you said that you recieved an email about it being offensive as well. Right now the only way to change the gamertag again is to pay the rate of a normal gamertag change.

What @Klokkwork said above is important. Your best bet is to save up the $10 to change your gamertag. As for the idea of it being deemed "offensive": the word climax by itself means "a culmination or apex". It doesn't have to be considered "sexual". Don't
worry about being banned, as long as you haven't had offensive gamertags in the past, you'll be fine.
