My gamertag in Minecraft isn’t right

I got given an auto-generated gamertag when signing up in minecraft (Pocket edition) as everyone does because to sign up I made an account. I then didn’t edit my auto-generated gamertag immediately, about 30 mins after creating it in fact. I changed to
something completely different but on Minecraft it still says DishierTunic271 which is completely different to (my current one) i was wondering if there is a way to fix this? I really dislike the auto-generated one so any advice would be greatly
appreciated.

Hello, if your looking to change your in-game name then when you are at the main menu go to settings and then profile. There should be a username box towards the top of the screen. This name acts differently from your account name. To change your account
game you will have to sign into Mojangs website.

Thank you for your help but whenever I go to settings then profile on the Minecraft App and try to change the username at the top it takes me to the Xbox app. And that implies I have to change my gamertag again which would cost money so I would prefer
to not have to do that. Thank you for your advice but it doesn’t seem it’ll work unless you meant something else? Any other tips or tricks you know that would help with this situation would be very helpful and appreciated.

How long has it been since you changed it? Gamertag updates can take up to 48 hours to populate across all apps.
