My gamertag has a suffux despite not being taken

When I made the gamertag, Check Availability told me it wasn't taken, yet it still gave me numbers at the end.

I've had my friend try to search in Change Gamertag and It's not taken.

When I try to change mine, it tells me I already own the gamertag.

I tried searching myself and there's nobody else with the same gamertag, so why the numbers?

Is there a way to remove these?

The OP checked the gamertag availability and it said it was available and it then showed how the gamertag would be displayed which was without the number suffix....yet their gamertag after the change contained the numbers. So the gamertag availability page is completely useless.

This is what shows when I check the gamertag the OP is looking at...note it shows as available and without a suffix:

Unfortunately, there's no way to remove the numbers tons of users are tired of the number system and I completely understand your frustration. I never trust the availability check to be honest.

That's a strange one....if I search for the username you want, then it shows without a suffix of numbers. Yet, if I search for usernames I know are in use, then it always adds a suffix

Thats cause of you not fully understanding how the gamertag system works

One because you aren't using context which can be millions of different combinations you arent going to find the exact t context

Spaces and caps don't differentiate your name from another when you try and take a name

But when you search it's the exact context you need to finf

So gamertag is the same as GamerTAg or gamer tag
