My gamer tag was changed without warning

My gamer tag was the same as my email going fine for a year. It’s a little bit of a joke I guess but no one in the community cares until I beat someone online. If I would’ve gotten a warning or something I would’ve been fine paying to change it eventually
but In this case I believe I deserve a free name change to put something inoffensive in but still have a gamer tag of my choosing and not Microsoft’s

Microsoft changed my gamer tag without warning

So I've just turned my xbox 360 on to find that I need to redownload my account. Upon recovering my account, I find my gamer tag has been changed to a ridiculous automatically generated name.

I've chatted with the support line and been told to post here about my problems.

My reputation for that profile was 86% preferred and I hadn't received any warnings about my name being inappropriate

my old tag that was changed without warning was

so am I going to be stuck with this ridiculous name or be forced to pay to change it, which being an apprentice, I can't afford to. Or can someone help me out here?

Microsoft changed my gamer tag without warning

your warning was the code of conduct that you agreed to before using the service it tells you what you can and cannot use in your case a tag that while not spelled it sounded like profanity. you must keep your tag and your bio/motto rated E for everyone.
you did not that is why you got the forced name change. and you are not 'stuck with this stupid name' you can change it but you WILL have to pay 10 bucks to do so and keep it clean this time or it will be changed again and remember TOO many changed tags
results in perm ban of Live.

Unfortunately, your previous gamertag was found to be in violation of the Code of Conduct. Therefore, a Forced Name Change was issued. With the new policy, you're given a randomly generated gamertag. This is not something that will be reversed. If you want
to choose a new one then you'll have to pay to change it. People attempted to abuse the previous system (when it allowed the user to choose the new name) so I imagine that's why it's like this now.

So my gamer tag was changed today without any warning and now I must pay $10 to change it? The support guy I spoke with referred me to ambassador s saying they could inform me about this forced change. Seems like extortion to demand $10 without any notice
. I will change but don't understand how this can be forced on me with no warning.
