    My gamer tag was changed to a random generated one


    so i just logged in today onto my account and for some reason my gamer tag was changed to a random generated name. And when i try to change it back it says my original name isn’t available? Any ideas on how to get my gt back and what might have happened?

    gamertag change need help!

    NUMBER that is not correct it just takes ONE reporting of a game tag for them to investigate then they will give him a random generated tag other reports would just not count.

    Free name change

    Your gamertag is not a random Microsoft generated one so it's been changed at some point.

    That usually means you were given a forced gamertag change. You would need to go to http;//enforcement.xbox.com to find out why and to see about submitting a case review.

    Yeah the new process is stupid, rather than prompting you for a new tag if your chosen tag is taken, they change the tag to an MS random generated one then give you a free change.

    Hello Bart,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. When you created an account if you picked a name for yourself instead of sticking with the random generated one. That will count as your free gamer tag change.

    Unfortunately, if you used the name change there is no other way to get a free one.

    Can't change my gamertag

    To add to what M3tal Daz3 said

    You get a free gamer tag change if you were given a randomly generated gamer tag when you first set the account up.

    If you got to pick your own gamertag at the time you set your account up or if you changed it from the randomly generated one then you would have to pay for a gamer tag change.
