My friends list is wrong

My friends list summary total is showing 1 more person than what actually apears on the list if I scroll and count them. I would like to know who this other mystery person is and perhaps block/delete.

Not sure how I go about finding out who this user is?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

No problem and yep, the issue is definitely real.

Do you know when it started happening? Did you do anything in particular that might have caused it? In my case, I decided to unfollow dozens of people who I'd not spoken to nor gamed with in years, so I removed a bunch of people from my friends list in quick succession, one after the other. That seems to have caused it, cos it was fine before then.

That's not an easy thing for me to do. I thought back to a recent interaction but it wasn't that person. What do I need to do to get rid of this potentially deactivated account from my friends list? I don't like the idea of potentially someone watching my activity but I can't see who it is.

I also don't know how to check for blocked or hidden users. I'm using the app on pc.

All I can suggest is to report the issue to the devs via the console.

If you haven't got it installed already, install the "Xbox Insider Bundle" from the Store - you don't have to be an insider to use it. Once you've done that, when you hold down the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the shutdown screen, you'll see a new "Report a problem" button there. Ideally you want to replicate the issue first, but there's not much you can do to replicate it, other than opening your friends list and then going to your profile to show the incorrect friends number.

Given that we can't give them exact steps to replicate it, it seems like a rare bug, and the effects aren't serious, it's unlikely it will get fixed any time soon, if at all, but it's worth reporting anyway. The more people that report the same issue, the better.

I think it happened after I got some spammy interaction with someone on a game server, who I attempted to block.

EDIT: I've just had a chat with Xbox support, and was advised to follow this link and click on the 'Report' button regarding this issue:
