My friends list I got there are zero friends on and I have done all the ways to fix it.

Multiple people are reporting the same issue, so it seems to be an Xbox server issue. You can report the issue at http://xbox.com/status

Same place as before you got the error. In the guide menu where you sign in. I hope they fix the zero friends I have...All By Myself!!

I noticed someone on my friends list today has done it. I might just have to ask how he got the job done.

I am also having this issue and so are my friends, I have done the steps as listed to fix it and it does not seem to work.

I'm running into this problem as well. I can get all other notifications but zero friend notifications. It's a little disheartening because I had quite a few friends jump on to play and I never knew they were there until I looked at my friends list.
