My friend died and I don’t want to reset the Xbox

I have a friend that I was living with for a few months now due to his lung cancer, he was undergoing chemotherapy until he got COVID and they refused his treatment, very recently he died in the hospital, he was very alone, with no family and not many friends. I don’t know how to use an Xbox and never asked him for his password. I do have an Xbox account on my computer but I can’t log in because he has a password on his account and won’t let me add it until I get it. If there is another way to add my account can anyone see, if not I really wouldn’t like to reset the Xbox and delete all his stuff, I don’t have many things to remember him, could I get help to either add my account without needing his password or getting his password with help of someone kind of admin, I only know his email address and I don’t think I could convince anyone to give me someone else’s personal info

Helping a friend with the same issue. The reset procedure holding buttons does not work with or with a usb drive with reset file.

So Microsoft has know about this for months and allowed my friend to download the update today. Exactly why I will never buy a new $1200 xBox. Don’t want it bricked in 2-4 years. Don’t suit Microsoft, just don’t by their junk.

Is reset a guarantee to work? I don’t want to reset the Xbox 360 then have it all be for nothing. Unfortunately clearing the cache didn’t work but I don’t want to reset without knowing if it will work

My 120GB hard drive died couple years ago, and the first symptom hours before it died was Xbox was lagging, i was playing a Co-op with a friend and the lag got worst and worst to the point that the game jumps screens, when it died the game i was playing
froze. when i went to reset Xbox, it was stuck at the xbox logo screen, and i changed to my old 20GB and ran fine. later on i was able to confirm that my 120 was dead with a friend's Xbox.

So basically, your HDD is near death, if you can resurrect it to working condition.

I’ve gained access back to my account and reset password and turned on 2fa but someone had changed my home Xbox to there’s and used the reset of them causing my Xbox to no longer be able to use my game pass on any of my accounts they are using the subscription I pay for and I don’t want that. I want my Xbox my home xbox
