My friend and I can no longer communicate on live

I have a friend on my list who isn't there anymore. no, he didn't block me or mute me. he sees me as offline and I see him as offline. We can't communicate in parties, but we can both join the same party with other friends. Also I am able to play gta
v with him but game chat doesn't work either. I don't hear him and don't hear me. My NaT type is open and I'm pretty sure his is too. We can still communicate through messages. This has only happened recently with the last dashboard update. If I try to
just add him as a friend again, it says sorry you can't do that right now or something to that effect. This is super annoying and if anyone has some insight that would be awesome. Also post up if your having similar issue.

Xbox not letting me talk to my friend

I need help for my problem. I cannot unmute my friend on xbox and we can no longer communicate. When I hit unmute, it just stays the same. When I view his full profile and hit unmute it changes until I view the profile again. How can we communicate and fix
this problem

Oh yeah this is xbox one btw. Guess that's pertinent information..

 

I would tell you both to hard reset the xbox AND your modem and router , then I would have you both try and just sign out of your profiles , then sign back in...if still no , then delete those profiles and re download them

 

Interesting solution with delete and redownload profiles. The other stuff I've done on my end, not sure about his.. we'll have to give it a shot and see

 

Other than that , you'll have to find out FOR SURE if his nat is open , you said yours is but if his is strict or even moderate , it can cause issues like your describing...

 

That was my first thought but according to xbox support if I'm open then I should be able to communicate with strict or moderate but I don't know if that's completely true.

 

That's correct in theory but I'm not sure what else could be causing it...
