    Optimized Games X|S

    Hi,

Both Series X/S games and Xbox One games that been optimised (I'm British) for Series X/S must be installed on either the internal storage or the expansion card. They can not be run from a USB connected storage device. My optimised Series X/S Xbox One games
were moved to my Expansion card during their update.

it doesn't see the hdd i plug in from usb

Could be any number of issues. Try these:

Try different USB ports. Your external must be USB 3.0 or higher at at least 128GB in size.

If that doesn't work, make sure your drive is formatted correctly. ( My games & apps > Manage > Storage devices)

Is this for Xbox One? Xbox One X/S? Xbox One Series X/S?

Does your PC or laptop recognize the drive when plugged in? Have you tried other cables if able?

Trouble With SSD on Xbox Series X

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is Vinicius.

I am a gamer and independent advisor on the XBOX community platform.

Hey Cupcakeboy14, how are you today? Hope you're well.

Plug in the drive and select FORMAT STORAGE DEVICE > Name it > arrow icon > KEEP CURRENT LOCATION > FORMAT STORAGE DEVICE.

You can use any USB 3.1 external drive with Xbox Series X|S, but only the Seagate expansion drive lets you play Xbox Series X|S games.

You can play Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games from a regular USB 3.1 drive.

    1. Turn your Xbox Series X or S on.

    2. Plug the external HDD or SSD into one of the USB ports. If the console recognizes your drive, the message seen in the following step will appear on the screen.

    3. Select FORMAT STORAGE DEVICE.

    4. Name your drive, and select the arrow icon or press the menu button to continue.

    5. Select KEEP CURRENT LOCATION.

    6. Select FORMAT STORAGE DEVICE.

    7. Your new drive is now available for use.

How to Move Games to an External Drive on Xbox Series X or S:

When you connected and set up your drive, you probably chose to keep your current install location, because Series X or S games won’t play when installed on a USB drive. If that’s the case, you’ll need to move games to the drive from time to time to free up space for new games. Here’s how to accomplish that.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the Guide, then select My games & apps.

    2. Highlight the game you want to move, and press the view button (two stacked boxes) on your controller.

    3. Highlight the game, select it, and select Move or copy.

    4. Select the game you want to move, and verify you are transferring from internal storage to your external drive. You can use the Select all option if there are multiple items on this screen.

    5. Select Move selected.

    6. Wait for the game to move.

Can you use external hard drives on xbox series s

    Hi,

Series X|S optimised games can only run on either the internal storage or expansion card. You can 'store' Series X|S on a USB hard drive/SSD for later but you can't play them from these drives as they're not fast enough.

Xbox One games that are not optimised for Series X|S can be run from USB Storage.

XBOX 360 S internal hard drive not being recognized.

Are you simply using it via the USB. it won't recognize it via SATA (if that's hat you were trying)?

Just an fyi, once it does "see it" and it's Formatted properly by the Xbox 360, it will only be 16Gb Maximum. In short, it's a lot easier to simply use a 16Gb USB Flash Drive. But it won't be recognized as a HDD either. Games and Game Features that require
a HDD will not work with only a USB Storage Connection.

In addition, there is no "Disc" or anything that needs to run by the Xbox 360. It is either a correct Formatted USB Storage Device or not. The Disc mentioned in the Transfer Kit is simply to Move Content from one Storage Device to another, not Format anything.
