My Experience using Magnifier in Rocket League

Just wanted to say I had the opportunity to be challenged with testing out the Magnifier feature on my Xbox One S. Needless to say it was an eye opening experience for sure. I played Rocket League (RL) using this feature and I learned a couple things.

First off some teammates in RL weren’t very understanding of my learning how to use my Xbox in new ways, such as the magnifier feature. For me I was trying to turn the feature off becaue the zoom in and out are the right and left trigger which are
also the accelerator and reverse actions in RL. After informing them that it may seem I am AFK they proceeded to tell me to just leave the match. This was eye opening because I know Microsoft tries to make video games and computers usable by everyone, including
those with handicaps. From what I observed in these situations was that sometimes the gaming community doesn’t necessarily understand that they may be playing with those with handicaps and by telling them to, “Just leave,” they run the risk of not just discouraging
people to play games but just discouraging them as a person. I will say though, that I had a couple teammates that were intrigued by this and informed me to take my time. Those players are making a difference by ensuring fun for everyone.

Second thing I learned, is that there is quite the learning curve for the magnifier feature. You have to learn when to turn it on and turn it off and just even how to do this which isn’t necessarily confusing, I’m just forgetful at times.

All in all being challenged to experiment with this really opened my eyes to the community that is educated and the one that is not. Also just to have a new appreciation for Microsoft’s efforts in making gaming for everyone. I would encourage everyone
to try and play for at least 10 minutes using the magnifier, and actively use it. Comment below and let me know your experience!
