My copy of Minecraft can be played on Xbox but not PC

The Minecraft Xbox One Edition is discontinued and previous owners were given access to the current version of Minecraft. That version shows up on my Xbox but not in the Windows Store on my PC. Why is this?

All the other games are at least shown in the Windows Store even if they aren't compatible on PC. I don't understand why Minecraft is the sole exception.

Minecraft Xbox One Edition upgrade to the newer version was for Xbox One only. If you want the Windows 10 version, you will have to purchase it. You can find it here

The Xbox version of Minecraft does show up in the Windows store, you just have to change the search parameters to Xbox instead of PC.

Hey,

if you only own the Xbox version of Minecraft you can only play it there. You have to buy a copy for PC to play it there. At the moment Minecraft is no Play Anywhere title.

Unfortunately, Minecraft requires separate purchases for each platform, which means that your copies of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and Minecraft (Bedrock) for Xbox do not grant access to the PC version of the game (and vice versa).

To play Minecraft on PC, I'm afraid you'd need to purchase the bundle I linked above. Alternatively, you could access this game through a Game Pass subscription.

Is it just for minecraft because i have other games i payed for on my xbox that can be played on pc to for free but except for minecraft

If a game is a Play Anywhere title, you can purchase it on the Xbox and download it and play it on the PC as well without having to purchase it again, and vice versa. But Minecraft is not Play Anywhere.

okay, what if i brought minecraft windows 10 on my pc, would i then be able to install this on my xbox?
