Same issues here. Bought a new Xbox one s bluetooth controller to replace my 360 pad, and it either works briefly then stops, the button presses are incorrect or doubled. Some games and steam see it as two controllers. The whole reason I bought an xbox pad
for the pc is for the ease of plug and play and compatibility and no fussing around. Yet, Microsoft seems to have messed it properly with xbox one controller support on windows. Back to my wired 360 pad I go.

They arre standard USB type A ports on the console. The 360 controllers use a custom interface just for charging and have no wired mode

Yep done all that, I can hear fine with my Wired and Wireless pairs of headphones on different Controller's.

It's just the mic's don't work with either setup.

I have just swapped over from an Xbox one to an Xbox series s??

I've never been into those fancy looking controllers. The generic black ones that come with the 250GB work just fine for me. Bought a new wired one off Amazon some months ago for 19.99- haven't bought another AA battery yet.

Ok so I went out and bought a wired controller (official Xbox one) that worked for 5 minutes absolutely fine, no issues skipping or not letting me move so I thought great. Then it decides to stop working and now won’t turn back on. It lets me power the Xbox up with it from the controller but nothing else?? Getting really frustrated now tbh and tempted to throw the lot in my bin. Help please…
