My cloud saves got deleted when services went down.

So I was going to load up a game of Grounded and I got a message when it was logging me in to the game and it said there was an error with Cloud Sync. I click try again and it loads like normal, but when I go to load my save game, the file is deleted and I can't cloud sync my game anymore. Its the same with every other game I've played on game pass, all of my saves have just been deleted and I can't cloud sync any of them back to a previous save. I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games to force a cloud sync and I tried signing in and out.

Let's try to clear you local saved games.

1. Eject the disc from your console if there's one currently inserted.
2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
3. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage devices.
4. Select Clear local saved games.

Note Selecting this option will not delete any games or progress you have saved in the Xbox cloud. It will only clear data you have saved locally.

5. Select Yes to confirm.
6. Once your console restarts, try launching your games.

So I went ahead and deleting the Cloud Storage Cache on my Xbox Hard Drive. Then I went to storage options and my Cloud Saved Games option in the Storage Devices screen said Cloud Storage was ready to be configured. When I clicked into that option it said
my Cloud Storage was currently disabled and my options were to enable it and disable it. I went ahead and enabled it, the screen looked like it loaded something, and then went back to my Storage Devices screen where it showed Cloud Saved Games to still have
the option of "Move or delete only". Thank you for the recommendation, Hassassinade.

If that was the case then how come when I completely deleted it from the cloud and my Xbox and then when I went to play it again after redownloading it I still had to create a cloud save?

Ok, I understand.

That depends on whether the console has already synchronized the deleted game to the cloud.

If the console hasn't deleted the game save from the cloud yet, the game sync with the save file in the cloud automatically. When you start the game, it'll download the save from the cloud.

If the game save however is gone in the cloud as well, then there is currently no way to get it back again.

If you went to Menu > Manage Games > Saves > Delete Save Data > “Delete Everywhere“, it's deleted from the cloud and can't be recovered.

when my characters got delete I only lost rank no money but that was when they were having major problems, the money goes into your overall bank that you can use on any character. you have to make sure when u try to join doesn't say cloud saves are down
if they are they will give you a default character... I bet your guys characters are not delete just try again when it doesn't say cloud servers are down. the game works perfectly fine for me after the update! I haven't had no problems with it saving my character
progress.
