Thank you for that. Unfortunately it hasnt worked. I still cant hear any game chat, and the chat mixer is still greyed out.

I should point out that if I plug my wired headset into my wireless controller, I can hear chat.

If you are referring to the Xbox headset chat mixer, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Connect your headset to your controller and plug in your controller to your console. Go to settings > device > accessories > update controller. Once you update the controller, it updates it with the headset then you should have control of the mixer.

I already tried that. When I check if there's an update it is greyed out saying no update available

UPDATE.

I figured it out.

Hard reset the xbox with the headset plugged in. The new controller has the chat mixer turned all the way to chat and not to game . Put the mixer back to the middle and it works. Without the hard restart, the option to adjust the chat mixer is gone.
