    I bought an xbox series s 3 weeks ago. I think my controller has been swapped without my knowledge because it is showing signs of wear beyond its time. It also signs is as player 2, when my friends one automatically signs in as player 1, not to mention looking and feeling much newer than "my" controller. Is there a way to check serial numbers or anything else to confirm this?

    If you had the controller box you might be able to see the serial on there to match. Apart from that, there is no way to confirm. I'm pretty sure Xbox Support do not keep records of what serial of a controller was sent out with what serial of a console.

    So to make this even more confusing to figure out. I just dug out my old xbox one s, fired it up and tested all the controller on
    it. The old ones still work fine. The black one that came with the new xbox series x works fine. The new style white controller that come with the new xbox series s and the new style black controller bought today from best buy BOTH have the headset low volume
    problem on my old xbox one s. Totally confused at this point.

    You're lucky. You can use the new Series X | S controllers on the old Xbox One.
