My account won't let me sign back in even with the correct information.

I have had this xbox account for a long time and haven't had issues with it before however at some point it has signed me out of my account on xbox. When I try to sign back in it asks for the microsoft account witch is connected and the password however when I put these in I get signed into a random account I haven't played on witch has no data or achievements.

At first I was worried my account had been overwritten by this new one but my old account still exists as I've been able to add it as a friend on my alt.

I also thought that I might be using the wrong microsoft account, which is my mother's, as ive had this account for many years but when she signs in to her microsoft account it show up as connected to my accounts username.

If anyone has suggestions to help I would greatly appreciate them otherwise I would lose a decade's worth of game data.

Based on the description you provided, it is not possible to overwrite an account data with a new account however in your case, your Xbox account that has the saved data and achievements is actually associated with a different email address.

To confirm this, sign in to your account on account.microsoft.com > payment and billing > order history and check if you have your purchased transaction showing up there.

You can also check your subscription history on account.microsoft.com > services and subscription.

Also, kindly confirm the gamer tag of the Microsoft account you are signing in to if it matches your Xbox account's gamer tag by signing on to account.xbox.com > then check the gamer tag showing up at the right top corner of the page.

If it's not there, try to sign in to your other email addresses that you know of on account.microsoft.com or account.xbox.com in order to find the email address associated with your Xbox account.

It says when I try to download it 'This email address isn't linked to a Microsoft account. Make sure it's correct, then enter it again'. I know its correct though and it won't even let me sign into my account on Xbox.com.
