My account isn't in a family group but I can't change any of my privacy settings.

Hello, I've been trying to access user created content in Forza 5 but I keep getting an error which says "You can't play with content created by other players because of how your account is set up. Go to privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com to change this."

So I go to Xbox.com and try to sign in and then it redirects me to a page saying "Why can’t I change my privacy settings?"

The page says that I'm either a child account in a family group or an adult account that's set as a member of a family group. The issue is that I am not in any family group. If I log into my Microsoft account and then press "Family", it is just me.

Would it maybe be because I'm under 18? I think that might be the cause of the issue but it didn't mention anything about that on the page.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yes, this happens because you are under 18. If you are on a child account, you cannot change your Xbox privacy settings, doesn't matter if you are on a family group or not. You’ll need an adult in your family to sign in to their Microsoft account to change your privacy settings:

Did you try to sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family/ ?

Can you send me a screenshot of your account on the webpage above showing that you're not on a Family Group?

Because if you're not on a Family Group, you should be able to change your privacy settings and shouldn't receive the "why can’t I change my privacy settings?" message.

Is your account a child account? If you have a child account you will need to ask your parents to include you in a Family Group and change your Settings for you.

Child accounts can't change their privacy settings even when not on any family group with parental control.

Probably you cannot change your account settings because your account is a child account. Child accounts cannot change their Xbox profile privacy settings. Doesn't matter if they are on a family group or not.

If you need to change your privacy settings, please ask a parent to create a family group, invite you to the group as a member and change your privacy settings for you.

I assume that you have issue with changing Privacy Settings in your account. So, If your account's already added into a Family Group you will need to change the Privacy Settings in your account (Child account) through the Parent account (Organizer). You
will find steps how to do that here.

Otherwise, as a workaround, I suggest that you add your account into a Family Group as Child Account. then make the changes in the privacy settings ( follow the link above). afterward remove your account from the Family Group. Remember, you
will need another account to use it as Parent account (Organizer) to create the family group. You will find steps here.
