My account is treated as a child and multiplayer is disabled in Minecraft

What version of Minecraft are you playing (Bedrock, Java) and on what platform (e.g. Xbox, PC)?

First, please make sure your Microsoft account reflects your correct birthdate and check that your Xbox profile is no longer part of a Microsoft Family group. If it still is, the family organizer will need to remove you manually. Updating your birthdate alone does not automatically lift child restrictions if the account is still linked to a family.

Also, keep in mind that Minecraft has its own multiplayer and privacy settings that are separate from your Microsoft account. Please review this article to check for any restrictions that might still be active:

If you have child settings on your childs account then that can disable online multiplayer my recommendation is to go through the account settings and configure it in the way you deem safe for your child

Is your account a child of a parent account? If so, get in touch with the account holder to make sure multiplayer is not disabled for your account. It may be disabled by default.

Family packs were designed for a family, such as a parent and 3 children. The primary is the "adult" account and the other 3 are considered "child" accounts. The child or secondary accounts are treated as "child" accounts no matter what the age is of the
account holder. If you have a family pack made up with adults on the plan then 3 of them will be treated as "child" accounts.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue with Minecraft Realms on the Nintendo Switch. Based on the message you received, it may be possible that your account doesn't have the correct permissions to access online multiplayer across different
devices.

Is your account a child or adult account? Players under 13 years old will have online multiplayer disabled by default with Minecraft and
won’t be able to join Realms or servers unless a parent changes their account settings.
For help with changing these account settings, you will need to change your
Privacy and Online settings of the Xbox Live account.
