    My account has been compromised. Is it possible to recover it?


    A hacker got a hold of a security code sent to me, and I can only assume has since changed the alias of my account. When I try to sign in using my email, it says "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one." However, when trying to create an account with the same email, it says "____ is already a Microsoft account. If it's yours, sign in now." Clearly something is wrong. I've tried every account recovery option that I could find through the Microsoft and Xbox, including the Microsoft troubleshooter and account recovery, but none of these have helped. I have the original email, password, and my Xbox gamertag. This account was also originally made in order to migrate a Mojang account to Microsoft in 2023, and I have email proof of migration. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hello FerrousLemur, if someone changed your Gamertag it has to be done from your account, and it may have been compromised

    Regarding Gamertag unfortunately it will not be possible to recover the previous name.
