My 4 year old Inactive username hasn’t become available

I made a Xbox account about 3-4 years ago. 3 years ago I forgot the email and password to the account. Microsoft says after 2 years Gamertags will become available if it hasn’t been signed in to anything Microsoft. I’m just confused why it’s still not available. Ive checked everyday for the past 8 months. Do they wipe every account that’s inactive at a specific time of the year like December 31st and do a massive deletion? Just really want my old GT back.

Any other user can get the gamertag if it is available, have you checked it by searching for the gamertag of who is the user? confirmed that it is yours?

The exclusion does not have a specific period.

Microsoft has change the system to where they add numbers after your name. After a few years they can vacate your gamer tag but this has not been done in quite a long time.

There are various methods of account recovery including proving your identity by mail. I suggest you use those as a solution

I don’t think I can afford the cost of a repair, it’s 4 years old and after the factory format it hasn’t made a difference, it’s playable but becoming slow, is it dying now? Would a replacement be better after 4 years?

It doesn't become available until 10 years. Gamertags are recycled every 10 years

I'm not sure if you understood my question. I know that inactive Gamertags become available after many years but every source I've looked at says that a Gamertag is released as soon as the account it's connected to does a Gamertag change.
