    MW2 must purchase game to play error/ disc not recognized


    Here is my solution to the Xbox one not reading MW2 Cross Gen bundle disc and saying user must purchase game to play. Eject Disc and then turn Autoplay discs off and then restart Xbox by holding power button for 10 seconds. Power on Xbox insert disc and it should show up on the Home menu on the far right side with disc logo in corner. Hope this works for more users than just myself.

    Unrecognized Disc

    For it to play an installed game it must recognize the disc in the drive and the problem is it doesn't even do that.

    A disc polish repair is my only hope... :S

    Why don't my games installed off discs on the One work on my Series S?

    In order to play the games, you have to have a license. For games purchased on disc, the license is on the disc. So the disc has to be in the console in order for the system to recognize you have a license to play the game. Since the Series S doesn't have
    a disc drive, only games purchased digitally can be played.

    Trouble Transferring Games From Xbox 360 To Xbox Series S

    Nope. For two reasons. The Series S won't recognize the games from an external drive and you need a license to play the games. Since they were purchased on disc, the disc has the license and would need to be in the disc drive to verify you own the game.
    Since the Series S doesn't have a disc drive, the games have to be purchased digitally.

    Did you purchase the game digitally, or did you install it with the a disc?

    If you have the digital version of the game, you must be logged in with the account that purchased it.

    If you installed the game with a disc, you need to have the disc in the drive in order to play it.
