Multiple Xbox Console on Network (Wired)

    Hi,

I currently have 2 Xbox Series X (hardwired) and an Xbox One (wireless) in my home. Me and my sons game together regularly.

The Xbox One has been lagging behind the other consoles a bit which has affected our ability to play together.

I decided to hardwire the Xbox One aswell but found it created a lot of issues with NAT, game connection and party chat.

I purchased 2 TP Link switches to extend the wired network. My current router has only 2 ports. This setup seemed to create the network conflicts.

I am wondering if anyone has 3 consoles hardwired on a single network and if so could you advise on how you have set it up. I am happy to invest in a tried and tested approach.

    Thanks Clinton

    :)

Multiple Xbox Console on Network (Wired)

I have a cable running from the router to a netgear 16 port gigabit switch (managed) i have 6 xbox consoles and 3 gaming pc's on the same network and don't have any issues, that does not include the myriad of other devices connected via lan and wifi.

on the router i have it set as uPnP, static IP so i then give all the devices their own fixed ip.

on the switch i have that managed so QoS is set as highest on the lans with PC's and xbox's.

all devices have open nat and very rarely i get issues with toredo or nat.

as my isp does not use ipv6 i have that disabled across my network too.

I recommend upgrading your router, it would be simpler

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.

Initially I had planned to put 2 x TP LINK 5 port switches onto the router. One on each level of my house.

I didn’t realise there would be so many issues have the 3 consoles on hardwired.

Much like yourself we have a lot of equipment dependent on the network (side effect of a family of 6 😂)

My knowledge of networking is somewhat limited so please bear with me.

In terms of assigning fixed IP for each console, would I do that or my ISP?

Also would you advise a better router (more ports) or larger single switch? I assume managed means I can adjust settings through explorer

    Regards

    Clinton
