Multiple kids playing online at the same time

So a few years ago, when we first started playing XBOX, I allowed my son to use my account to play games (he was 8 at the time). Over time, he has built up statuses in a number of games that he does not want to lose.

I also have two younger kids as well who want to play online games. So I bought another XBOX1. My younger kids, however, cannot seem to play online games if my older son is online and playing.

So I have a couple of questions:

1) Do I need to pay for two subscriptions so that both XBOX1 consoles can be play online games at the same time?

2) Would it help, or be possible, so transition my original account into a child account and create a new account for me to allow my other kids to play. (I doubt this would work if the answer to #1 is that I need to pay Microsoft for multiple online gaming
accounts.)

Also open to other solutions!

For two consoles you can share Gold. (explanation below)
Not required, see below:

The Xbox One has a system that allows you to set your 'Home Xbox'. When this is set up, the console that is set as the home console can share Xbox Live Gold and most digital purchases.

On the second Xbox (that your other children use) set this console as your home.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Personalisation, and then select
My home Xbox.
Select Make this my home Xbox to designate the console as your home Xbox.

When you do this, all accounts on this console can now share the main account's Xbox Live Gold. To use it, you'll need to create a new account for your other children. They can even have an account each if you want. As you are sharing Gold, these other accounts
will not need a subscription.

Note: If there is an outage with your internet, or Xbox Live goes temporally down, the first Xbox won't be able to play any digitally purchased games until internet/Live connection is restored. Disc based games are not affected. This is
because it is no longer the home Xbox One.

You shouldn't have any issues. I've played the same game with my kids in the same home multiple times. The only issues you could run into are voice commands like you stated.

You can't play online with the same account on multiple consoles at the same time. The other person would need their own account.
