    So I have my operating system installed to a 500gb nvme drive and recently installed a 2.5" hybrid hdd to be used explicitly for game installs. Well in the xbox app it gives you the option to select a specific drive you would like to install all or individual games to, so i set the default installation address to that specific drive. Well, the app proceeded to install to that drive as intended, however I soon realized that it was simultaneously installing them to the windowsapps folder on the system drive (500gb nvme). Now here is the kicker, when you select to uninstall the games it removes them from the selected drive just fine, but moves the double installed folders on the system drive to an undeletable cache folder buried 6 levels deep into the windows folder effectively causing that lost space to be seemingly permanent!! This is extremely frustrating and I could even understand NEEDING to keep those files on the same drive that windows is installed on because xbox app is intimately linked with windows, but then why even give the option to install to a different drive in the first place?? Hell, you cant even choose where you want to install the xbox app to to maybe circumvent the issue, it just auto installs to the system drive. If there IS a solution to this that anyone has figured out, please let me know.

    Every game launcher has the detect installed games feature. Why not in the Xbox app?
    Hi,

    Windows 10 games and apps does it differently. The games are encrypted and this encryption is unique to the Windows install. If you install Windows fresh again (even on the same PC) the games will be locked. You will to need to delete the WindowsApps folder to reclaim the space and install the games again.

    Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, you will need to click the install to download any digital content for PC.

    If you have a Windows 10 device, you can now use the Xbox app to connect to the Xbox Live service.
