Multiple Inactive Gamertags - Would Like to Acquire

I have found numerous accounts on xbox that have 0 gamerscore and appear to not have been used since the original xbox days. I was wondering why these gamertags were not made available previously and when the next release will be if ever. I can provide examples
if needed but would appreciate any feedback, thank you.

Inactive gamertag

i was wondering how long it takes for a gamertag to become available when its been inactive . there is a gamertag i would like that only has 5 gamer score and last used 1/4/2007 so 5 years now . so was wondering if there a way for me to be able to acquire
the gamertag i would like .

I want this gamertag that has been inactive for quite some time, the person has one friend and has not played any games in over 2 years.Is there a way to acquire that gamertag through xbox support or through other means. thank you

Hi, I know that a gamertag must be inactive for 5 years to be eligible to be released- one thing to note, however, is that the gamertag may possibly have been in use on other Microsoft services besides Xbox within the last 5 years, and that would make the
gamertag ineligible to be released. The gamertag would only be released if that account doesn't sign in within a 5-year period.

Once a gamertag is acquired MS will not release the gamertag until that account has been completely inactive with anything to do with MS not just the xbox for 5 years from the last date that it was used. Keep in mind even if it may seem like a gamertag
is inactive on the xbox console that does not mean that the MS account associated with that gamertag is not being used in something else associated with MS.

Microsoft have recently updated their terms and it is now 2 years of inactivity and they will shut down the account.

I'm afraid there is no way to request that.

The only thing you can do is wait until the GT (Gamertag) becomes avaliable, which is unknown when this will happen or choose a different GT

Is there anyway I can check how long the accounts been inactive or how long until the name will be reset?
