Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully get to playing Fortnite with your son. I can definitely see how this could be pretty disheartening. If you have already manipulated your son's privacy settings as well as yours, then I
suggest removing and redownloading the profiles as well.

Typically issues like this result from a network problem. I suggest also giving the steps outlined in our support page entitled Troubleshoot
multiplayer connection errors.

When you get the chance, give those steps a shot and let us know if that helped at all.
