Multi-player with another xbox with game sharing

I'm trying to play a multi-player game on my xbox ser x with my kid on an xbox one that has game sharing enabled. When I try to join or invite to the game it shows that they are offline but on their xbox it shows me online but same situation, can't join or invite. Any advice?

What game are you trying to play together? Some games that have been released recently do not allow cross-play from one console generation to the next. Since you are on a series console and your kid is on an Xbox One console, it could be that the game does not allow it.

Thank you for the reply. Game was minecraft dungeons & I believe this was the reason. Had no issues playing on the same console together.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Kindly perform an extended powercycle and reset the network hardware by following the steps below on the Xbox One:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

Yes you'll be able to share DLC for the game, such as new costumes for the single player and multi-player.
