    Multi player mode with my son


    Hi,

    I'm completely unexperienced with XBOX and it's features.

    The question I have is related to my son. He's living abroad (Serbia) and lives to play Minecraft on his XBOX with me when I'm there. When I'm back home in Holland I'd like to play with him too, so my question is what do I need to buy to get connected with him to play Minecraft remotely (with also being able to speak to him)? As far as I read on some website I need:

    • an XBOX myself - I don't like PC mode - but do I need to watch the version/ model? Or are XBOX's (backwards) compatible?
    • an XBOX gold subscription (I need 2, one for my son in Serbia and one for myself in Holland?)
    • of course WIFI on both sides
    • XBOX headsets (2)
    Could somebody tell me if this is what I need?

    And maybe some other hints for hardware/ software/ setup?

    I think your list is pretty much accurate. All Xbox One models and the new Series X|S models are compatible.

    If you want to save some money, your son could set your (new) console as his "home" console and then you can share games and Xbox Live Gold. I've never done this myself, so I'm not an expert - but you can check if this is a viable alternative for you: Designate a home Xbox | Xbox Support

    Xbox One S shuts off when starting a game

    My son is having the same issue. when he plays any multiplayer game it loads then shuts off the console. Its not overheating and its not the power cord because he can play a disc game not on multi player mode. Any thoughts before we have to buy a new
    one?
