Muliplayer within the same house

Hi. Is it possible for me to play my son full screen on pc and full screen the on console. Like playing on line. We have the share family setting thing switched on and we have individual gamertags emails and passwords...ive tried everything i can think
of but just cant get it to work. To recap i want to play Minecraft with my boy. Me on the pc him on the console in the same house on the same network but no split screen.

All i can get working is streaming from one device to the other. Do i need to buy Minecraft on the pc?

I would like to do the same on other games like forza horizon 3. Do i need to sign myself in on the pc and sign my son in on the Xbox then invite to game?

The Better Together update for
Minecraft introduced cross-play between multiple devices. You would simply need to have your son added as a friend in order to have
access to his world or for him to have access to your world. You can find more information regarding in-game features through the official
Minecraft Forums.

Game sharing is meant for console's within the same house or family. Not for friends or other people.

Wait, what? There's pause feature in a public competitive muliplayer game? Who thought of that crap? Oh yeah, EA.

It may not be cheating but anyone who's ever played a muliplayer game could have guessed it would be abused.

Anyway, there might be a $60 patch next year.
