    MSFS starts its launch phase -- hits a screen that says I have a mandatory update to install from the Microsoft Store and I click OK, and it shuts down.

    Launch Microsoft Store - run updates - says I'm all up to date. Look at MSFS directly and there are no prompts in the three dots to manually push an update.

    So how do I make MSFS get the update?

    I got the same thing. It did not work for me (for a few minutes) but this is what I did. It might help you.

    (As mentioned below in another answer) make sure you have the Xbox App installed. Here, please note, you will need to have the Xbox App fully updated too. Also note, the store will sometimes not show that updates are available (yeah, it's kind of confusing). So, open the Xbox app and it will ask you to update. then, you go ahead and do the update.

    Now, you head over to the store "..." section (three dots) next to your profile name (top right corner). Here, you may have to click on the blue "get updates". This should pull up MSFS has two updates. one for license and another for the game.

    If you dont get it right away (I did not get it right away), close and reopen the store. Or, worse case scenario, restart the computer.

    MS Flight Simulator Standard. I can no longer use the program I get a message that an update has been done and i should go to MS Store but I cannot locate the update anywhere. Does anyone have any idea?

    Install the 'Xbox' app from the Windows Store and launch it. Then go back to 'Downloads and Updates' in MS Store and 'Get Updates' and the MSFS update may appear.

    Ok. So makes no sense to me... but it worked

    You have to have the Xbox App open and be signed in....

    Then open the Microsoft Store App

    Search for updates a couple of times and almost like magic, the MSFS update will start by itself.

    No idea, makes no sense, but it worked. I'm flying again.

    Try these steps the developer recommends. After you download the Xbox app I recommend you clear your store cache.

    Clear store cache >

    windows key + r and type ''wsreset'' wait for the black screen to close and open the store automatically, it takes a while.
