MSFS 2020 std Installed from DVD now wants to install from MS/xbox store what do i do?

I bought the dvd standard MSFS 2020 last year and decided to install on PC today after 6hrs following instructions it installed all 10 dvds and then asked for Key which I entered, but now it has come up with a screen saying to MSFS standard pre order free up you hd 250GB remaining 157GB required and an option to free up disk, install, or cancel. It seems it is trying to reinstall the entire game from the MS store! reading on this it says I need a xbox account in addition to my ms account so I logged into xbox account using my ms account email/pw and it seems to be asking me to claim to a trail of 100 games which I don't want and an option below to just continue. so went to games and it wants me to install msfs2020 again? what do I do I dont want to install 2 copies of the program? how do I procede?

any step by step instructions appreciated using latest w10

the dvd data is well and truly out of date, there have been massive updates to the game/sim, you have to let it download all the new updates which is basically the entire game. the game is 157GB in size and requires double for the initial download and install.

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunatler none of the actions works. I uninstalled MSFS 2020 and even formatted the disc it was installed on.

The problem now is that both MSFS 2020 and Xbox Gameservices in Microsoft Store are marked with error and requires new download/ update which are also marked with error message as soon as I try to do anything.

No matter what ever I have tried so far ( Windows Store repair, Windows Store repair and components update, among others plus reinstalling Xbox app) I am still not able to install MSFS again.

Maybe the only solution is to reinstall Windows?

I was like you, if I had to add Xbox software, etc. I was ready to forget MSFS and go back to X-plane. As I mentioned previously, I do not have Xbox and have no plans to but for whatever reason the install finally finished without me doing anything except
waiting a while. From other posts on this board, some have had success by installing Xbox (beta). I did purchase MSFS 2020 from the Microsoft Store.

First you need to uninstall the game through steam, and then install it from the microsoft store.

If you have already made the purchase through the microsoft store, confirm here:

I tried the following

Here are the steps I followed

1. Remove MSFS 2020 from steam

2. Delete the steam account on the steam web page

3. Uninstall steam on my PC

4. Go to MSFS store and buy MSFS 2020

5. Install MSFS 2020

6. Launch by double clicking the application.

Do you need to update the game via the Microsoft store after installation. At this point buying the disc version has absolutely no point on PC, as you will have to download just as much data to just update the game.

Open the Xbox app, or search for it on your hard drive. Go to the library and the game should be there
