MSFS 2020 installs on my friends PC, but he can't run it

Flightsims 2020 requires a lot of power

Updates are installed when you boot the game, except for major updates which are handled at the local level patching the game

You need to start the game and leave it to update until it's finished. This may be as over 100GB

You will need functional gaming services on Windows to access the game, so that would be the first thing I'd fix. Gaming Services would show up under your windows store updates.

He is running an older i5 with a GTX 1060. It's possible he doesn't meet the specs, but the application actually tells you if it will run on your computer, checks available bandwidth, etc. He wasn't even able to install the Xbox app. He messaged me this morning and told me after yesterday's Windows Update the Xbox app installed. I have offered to try and help him fix the gaming service by trying sfc and DISM since he says the update on Windows Store gives him the same error (he did go to the store and update all but his Xbox app successfully), but he said he doesn't want to be bothered with it, so I am just letting him do whatever it is he wants to do. No need for you guys to waste any of your time on this one.

I can also confirm this worked for me on PC. I downloaded the XBOX app via the store.

Then, in store, clicked the three dots.

Then "downloads and updates" and sure enough there was an update for MSFS 2020 1.19.9.0. This was 507.0MB.

I then started MSFS 2020 which went to its own install manager and showed me the "Standard Content" mandatory update which was 108.12MB. The total download, however, was 3.19GB.

I then downloaded all available updates in content manager.

Once all this was complete I quit to desktop and restarted MSFS 2020 without issue.

I think it's VERY strange to need to install the XBOX app for any updates to show in the PC's Microsoft store!!

First you need to uninstall the game through steam, and then install it from the microsoft store.

Here are the steps I followed

1. Remove MSFS 2020 from steam

2. Delete the steam account on the steam web page

3. Uninstall steam on my PC

4. Go to MSFS store and buy MSFS 2020

5. Install MSFS 2020

6. Launch by double clicking the application.
