No. This is a different method, I recommend you try the solution below as well, this is an official alternative that the developers are offering for this problem.

Install the 'Xbox' app from the Windows Store and launch it. Then go back to 'Downloads and Updates' in MS Store and 'Get Updates' and the MSFS update may appear.

I believe it will be necessary to completely uninstall the game again and install it again, as this happens when an update or game files have been corrupted, and from what you told me this is what must have happened.

But before uninstalling, try the solution below, please.

Go to Windows settings>applications>applications and features>search for Microsoft Flight Simulator>when you find it click with the left mouse button on it and then select advanced options>tap repair, and see if the game returns to works if it doesn't go back to the same place and choose the restore option.

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunatler none of the actions works. I uninstalled MSFS 2020 and even formatted the disc it was installed on.

The problem now is that both MSFS 2020 and Xbox Gameservices in Microsoft Store are marked with error and requires new download/ update which are also marked with error message as soon as I try to do anything.

No matter what ever I have tried so far ( Windows Store repair, Windows Store repair and components update, among others plus reinstalling Xbox app) I am still not able to install MSFS again.

Maybe the only solution is to reinstall Windows?

On October 30, 2021, I tried downloading again, and it worked. After the download, I was able to launch MSFS 2020, reinstall all the updates, and fly.
