I know some states have consumer complaint departments for Consumer Affairs that the DA will look into if there are many complaints filed.

just recently many people complained about dell laptops smelling and it was looked in to were as dell offered to replace the part in question, it took a few months this year to and just recently the news reported on it, another channel is to tell news reporters
and get them interesting in a story on these issues.
