MS MS41p1: Xbox one turning on randomly

Is your Xbox connected to a surge protector or power strip? Those are known to cause little electrical issues like randomly turning on.

Ideally, the Xbox should be plugged directly into the wall for power, as the power supply has its own built-in surge protection anyway.

It is connected to a power strip. But it always has been so why would it start acting up this year? Would that mean my power strip is going bad?

I'll try plugging it in directly and see how it goes. Thanks!

This is exactly the same scenario for me too, is your Xbox the original model or the S version?

Hi GovMan, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

They may be on instant-on mode wherein if the controller turns on it will also turn on the console.

To isolate the issue and to fix it. Please change it to Energy-saving mode and test it out if the same issue will occur.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Power mode & start-up.

Select from the Power mode drop-down menu to change the setting.

Thank you for replying back. Just to clarify, do you have the Xbox One plugged directly into a wall outlet, or is it plugged into a power strip or surge protector? The Xbox one should always be plugged into a wall outlet for the best use of the system.
Have you tried to plug it into a different wall outlet?

Seems like something to do with how the original model powers up, I wonder if anyone with an S model can confirm if this has happened to them. I know one of the design alterations of the S was the power button since the original button was hair-trigger sensitive
but never this much.
