    Moving game libraries from another computer


    Hello, I just reinstalled windows from 10 to 11 and I had a bug where my whole game library was removed. It would be nice being able to move already installed game folders and just run them with the xbox app without the need to download them again. It really is a problem for me. This is implemented in steam and epic games etc. Hope this gets added. Thank you!

    If you log in with the same account that was used to purchase the game, then you should be able to download the game on your new PC at no extra cost. Launch the store, go to your game and app library, and you should find the game ready to install
    from there.
    I have the game in separate ssd, so I can move it to new computer.

    What do I have to do so it works? Do the new computer need a installer to load

    the game and how can I do it so it works on the new computer?

    log into the new laptop with the same emails account and go to the windows store, go to downloads and look for it in your library. you don't lose content because you moved from one pc to another.

    It wont let me download my game on this computer...

    Are you trying to install the game from the Microsoft store listing or from your library? You might have better luck going to your library and downloading it that way so the app recognizes your current computer instead of your old laptop.

    Is it possible to play games you've already installed on a portable hard drive using a different computer on a different computer?

    and now you have opened and changed the permissions for that folder then it won't work on the original system either as you have broken the encryption.

    gamepass and a lot of windows store games cannot be moved from one computer to another.
