    Move Gamertag to different email


    I have a xbox one s. The xbox live is setup with my email and only my son usesit to play so his gamertag is alocated to my email.

    My son just recently created his own email so I would like to move his gamertag from my email to his.

    I will still remain the main account holder. How do I move the gamertag?

    Is the email a third party email like yahoo or gmail or is it a Microsoft email like outlook or Hotmail. If it is third party you can change the account email at account.microsoft.com under your info Manage how you sign in to Microsoft. If it is a Microsoft
    address and you change the email that email will disappear so do not change if you are using that email. Be very careful this cannot be reverted

    Hi Jaguar!

    Unfortunately you cannot unlink accounts - what is recommended here is to make a third "dummy" account, and use it to move your profile as follows:

    "Old" Email

    "New" Email

    "Dummy" Email.

    Move your gamertag from "New" Email to "Dummy" Email. Then move your gamertag from "Old" Email to "New" Email. At this point you can then just trash Dummy email, and your new email will have your old gamertag :)

    Cannot move Gamertag over to different Email.

    You don't mention if you have already gone to
    http://account.live.com     to change the email, you would sign in to this web page with the email and password for your gamertag, then you would go to "Aliases" and change the email from there.

    Ok i have changed my primary Alias, now it says it could take upto 48 hours until the changes takes effect. After those 48 hours have passed can i then remove my old email address from my list of Aliases ?
