Mouse and Keyboard without Controller being turned on

Hi all,

I really welcome the use of mouse and keyboard on Xbox One, as it's made games such as Surviving Mars and The Sims 4 so much more manageable from a control point of view.

However, I've noticed that the Xbox has a requirement that a controller is turned on as well. This wouldn't be too much of an issue, however as the controller turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity it's proving quite annoying.

Hopefully Microsoft patch it so that you can use a keyboard and mouse without having to have a controller on, but in the mean time, does anybody have a suitable work around for this?

I haven't but that seems like the best solution. Can't believe I didn't think of that lol

Have you tried leaving the controller plugged in via usb?

Are you using the keyboard to turn on the console, or a regular controller?

My suggestion is to try using a regular Xbox One Controller (any should do, standard, Elite Series 1 or 2) to turn on the console, launch the game, then turn off the controller, and connect the keyboard and mouse after the controller has been turned off,
you should then be prompted to select an account to use the keyboard and mouse with for the game.
