Mouse and Keyboard on Console considered "fair" now!?

So let me just get this straight... Keep in mind that this is somewhat of a rant.

My old account got banned from R6: Siege and Overwatch for using Mouse and Keyboard via a XIM4 device. The issue for escalated to Microsoft and my account was perm-banned for "using 3rd party hardware to gain an unfair advantage over other players". This
was merely 2 months ago keep in mind. Now, Sea of Thieves is cross platform leaving those of us using a controller absolutely defenseless when going up against someone using mouse and keyboard. A HUGE part of this game is player vs player content and it just
baffles me how they ban someone for using a mouse and keyboard and then turn around and allow it on new games!

Let me take it a step further and say this! What is the difference is gaining an advantage through a XIM4 (mouse and keyboard) and the elite controller, scuf controller, rapid fire modded controllers, control freaks analog extensions, ect. The lack of clarity
on the enforcement here is just pathetic. It's unethical to ban someone from a service and then turn around and allow the thing that you just punished someone for!

Keyboard/Mouse?

In order to keep an equal and fair multiplayer experience, you can only play with controllers on the Xbox One.

Games that work on the PC as well (like for example Gears of War 4) can be played with keyboard and mouse, but you can only play cooperative multiplayer with console owners that have to use controllers, so mouse and keyboard users don't have an advantage.

These XIM4 or Mayflash devices aren't real mouse and keyboard devices. These devices show themselves as a standard controller to the console, and when you move the mouse, the adaptor "guesses" from the speed you move the mouse, how hard it should push a
simulated controller stick in a certain direction.

These adaptors won't give you the same control as the mouse on a real PC.

When you stream the Xbox game screen to your PC, you can also only use a Xbox controller. Mouse and Keyboard won't work as a game input (you can only use the keyboard to enter text when the virtual keyboard is shown).

There are plans to get Keyboard and mouse working, if there ever is a way to stream the PC screen to the Xbox console.

But currently, if you're playing on the Xbox console, it's controller only (even if the controller is "guesstimated" with mouse and keyboard inputs).

 

Not fair to use mouse and Keyboard

Its not fair especially for first person shooters to use mouse and keyboard. Mouse will always win against controller. If someone wants mouse and keyboard thats what pc is for. I have been a console player my whole life never used
mouse and keyboard for gaming. This will make people stop wanting to play if they know its not an even playing field. Dont expect for us consoles players to switch to mouse and keyboard, me personally will just stop playing or look to playstation. Makes no
sense that they allow this, you play xbox for the controller experience, and if the experience is being in an uneven match then wthat fun is that.

 

Lets be honest here.

you got banned for cheating, and you even openly admit to cheating. It is very very clear that it is not allowed to use 3rd party hardware to gain an unfair advantage over other players, you choose to do that anyway, and you got banned for it.

It is still not allowed to use 3rd party hardware to gain an unfair advantage over other players, nothing has changed here.

However in Sea of thieves it is possible to crossplay with PC players, that is not at all the same thing..

It is still not possible to use keyboard and mouse on an Xbox One playing sea of thieves, however unfortunately it does seam they want to add support for keyboard and mouse for some games.

Still not the same thing. you chose to use an accessory that was not approved, and then you have to deal with the consequences.

If you break the law today, it does not matter if the thing you did becomes legal tomorrow. you still broke the law

I strongly suggest they should add an option to turn off Crossplay with PC, so it is up to us players if we want to deal with this or not. all other games so far that offers crossplay have this option, and so should Sea of Thieves.

If you want keyboard and mouse, I personally think you should stay on PC , and deal with all the cheaters that that platform have.

 

How exactly is using a keyboard cheating? I use a mouse and keyboard all the time on Xbox. Tbh, the controller is easier to play with (IMO)

 

Well let me ask you this, why would you use keyboard and mouse in a game ... is it because it works better, or worse?

And if you do use it because it gives you better control, in for instance FPS games, and if other people you play against can not use the same advantage because they do not have the external non supported device to do this, how are you not getting an unfair
advantage? And if you get an unfair advantage by using 3rd party hardware that is not allowed ...how is that not cheating???



Also you use it all the time, in what games are you using keyboard and mouse, without using 3rd party hardware that is not allowed?

Microsoft are planning to add official support for keyboard and mouse , but so far they have not in a official public release. And when the support comes, it would only work for games that support it, so far I have seen no game that support it.

so what games are you playing using keyboard and mouse on an Xbox today, that official is supported by Microsoft? ..

 

Im not talking about using third party software. My console just seems to work by plugging the usb of the keyboard into the console. If its third party software fine, but if you are playing it without, its fine.

 

I never mentioned 3rd party software. I mentioned 3rd party hardware and that is what was talked about .

Of course you can plug in a keyboard to the Xbox to type in text boxes for instance in Edge, ...that is not the same as using the keyboard in a game

Yes, offcourse a keyboard is harder to handle, common knowledge.

But you’re using it for a reason, the fact you have so much more possibilities with it.

An unfair advantage compared to other players using a controller.

 

So my question is what is someone has a disabilty that restricts them to use a regular controller and they have to use a third party device in order to properly play games?
