Hey! Since this is for more than just Rewards or a Special offer I am going to move your post to a forum that I think will give you better insight.

And your issue with lag on the PS3 I am 100% certain is your wireless connection. Hardware is the one big con of the Playstation. For wifi, its only Wireless G vs Wireless N on the 360. If you plug on with an Ethernet cable though, you won't experience any
problems. It runs just as flawless as Xbox Live. Hardware is also the reason they don't have party chat. The official statement from Sony says the console doesn't have enough ram to support it. This was Sonys biggest flaw this gen when they focused on Blu-Ray
making them have to cut corners in other areas to keep costs to a minimum. The Live service is not a bit better because there is a fee attached to it. It has more features that people think are premium over their competition only because they will need a new
console to handle them. I wonder what the excuse next gen is going to be when these features are in place

[/quote]The problem with reward schemes like that is a lack of accessiblity. Many of them are only available in the US, which is completely useless to the rest of the world.

You're right. It's 40 million members of Xbox Live so about 20 million Gold members(damn you Austin Powers). So it's basically 4M$ as birthday gift. They give 200pts for ''renewing'' your Xbox Live Gold member ship for an additional year but an additional
year is 60$. They lose absolutely nothing and probably make an insane profit. They're holding multiplayer gaming hostage and they're pretty much the only platform charging for it. PC, Wii, Wii U, Vita, DS, PS3 all of them have free online multiplayer. Hell,
to me it's the equivalent of charging people if they wanna play split screen. If a game I buy has multiplayer in it, I shouldn't have to dish out money to Microsoft to access that multiplayer. Xbox Live takes away content instead of giving it. Then they give
the illusion they're giving something to their customers with Gold when other companies don't even make you pay.

Anyway, I think at this point the best we can do is wait for the next gen Xbox and see if the Live service will be worth it.
