Mono audio from rear surround speakers. Bitstream Dolby Audio issue

So I've been testing a series of audio options for my Xbox one x and have been getting more and more confused.

    First my set up.

Xbox One > HDMI IN "HW-MS650 Samsung Soundbar (with wireless speaker kit) > HDMI OUT Samsung KU6300 TV.

The soundbar cannot process 5.1 uncompressed so I'm stuck using Bitstream for surround sound. However, when I test the surround sound using both THX optimizer from a DVD and Netflix Test video, I get correct audio from my Front L, Front R, Center and Sub.
But when it plays the test sounds for the surrounds, a test sound comes from both speakers during those tests, as if its only outputting a mono channel to the 2 surround speakers.

Now the really weird part is that if I use the Xbox one pass through audio from Blu-rays, the THX test is perfect, and I get absolute separation. And when I use my Samsung TV's Netflix app, the test video is also perfect. So somehow
is the Xbox decoding of the Bit stream screwing something up?

Please help Mono audio from rear surround speakers. Bitstream Dolby Audio issue :(

    :)

Rear Speaker Issues with 5.1 Surround Sound Using Optical Cable

Looking for any help resolving an issue with my rear speakers and subwoofer not working with my new XBox One S.

I originally had an Xbox 360 running audio and visual output through an HDMI cable to my television, then had red and white A/V cables going from my television's audio output to my Blu-Ray/Surround Mixer combo's input.

With the new console, we were only getting sound out of the left and center speakers, so we bought an optical audio cable, which is now running between the Xbox One S and the Blu-Ray/Surround Mixer combo. This has given us full range stereo between the left
front, center, and right front speakers, but no rear audio or low range through the sub.

As far as settings go, I have the HDMI audio off, Optical audio set to bitstream out, and Bitstream format set to DTS Digital Surround.

It's worth noting that my Blu-Ray combo doesn't have an HDMI input, only SPDIF and A/V inputs.

No 5.1 surround sound during Watch Dogs

Problem solved. I swapped over the sound settings to "bitstream out" and changed the signal to DTS Surround Sound. Now I have sound coming out of my rear speakers. Watch Dogs has a very weak rear audio track.

Playback of 4k hdr media files with dolby atmos

Go to xbox settings, Choose "General", Set "speaker audio" to HDMI Bitstream out, then set " bitstream format" to Dolby Atmos for home theater. This will allow all games and apps that support dolby atmos to use those nice surround sound speakers. If you
get an error when choosing dolby atmos, you may need to make sure your hdmi from the xbox goes to the audio receiver directly with the audio reciever sending hdmi to the tv.

You may have to adjust settings on your audio receiver or tv.

You can also setup dolby atmos for a stereo headset pugged into your controller and have surround sound that way, nice for late nights when others are sleeping.

Let me know if this helped

I have speaker audio as: HDMI audio - stereo uncompressed; Optical audio - Bitstream out; and Bitstream format - Dolby Digitial. My headset audio is: Headset format - stereo uncompressed.

Bitstream setting-Why forced to choose DTS or Dolby?!

7.1 uncompressed, mutes my rear surround speaker on bf4 because bf4 doesn't use a rear surround channel. When I set it on bitstream and dolby, the pro logic kicks in and I get my rears to blend in the sound. I recommend leaving it on dolby because then
if a game or movie doesn't have a rear channel, you will still get sound from it, aka pro logic or ES

Xbox One to old Dolby ProLogic Analog Receiver--No Surround Sound

Disregard issue. It is fixed. For anyone having the same issue, here are the settings that gave me Surround Sound:

In Settings > Display & Sound > Digital Audio:

    HDMI Audio > Bitstream Out

    Optical Audio > Bitstream Out

    Bitstream Format > Dolby Digital

This is output to my HDMI TV then connected via analog RCA cables from the TV output to the input of my Receiver which is set to Dolby ProLogic. Hope this helps someone in the future.
