Money added to a Child Account via Microsoft.com is not available to spend on Xbox

I added £15.00 to my son's account yesterday so that he could purchase DLC for a game on his Xbox. When I look at his account via my browser, I can see that he now has £21.01 to spend, but when he tries to make the purchase on his Xbox, only £6.01 is showing and he is asked to provide payment details for the amount he is supposedly short.

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm.

Then, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

The balance in the picture is from your child account, right?

Are you trying to purchase minecoins with it?
Or an specific item in the marketplace?

Is this happening on which minecraft version?
Did you tried sign out from your child account in minecraft and sign in to see if the balance appears now?

The problem here is that it wasn't a purchase that the OP made...they added money to the child's account via the Family group area...would that even show up as a purchase?

Go to your family group and sign in with your Microsoft account. Find your
child's name. Select the name and then select
Add money. If that option is not available, select Options > Spending > Microsoft
account balance > Add money
