Moderate Nat

    Moderate Nat


    Hello all I am having trouble getting my nat open on my xbox one i have tried upnp tried dmz and tried port forwarding nothing seems to help it works on moderate but I would rather have it open any Ideas could it be a Microsoft thing? I have a wired setup
    Location- Southfield michigan Modem-**** tg862 with Comcast ISP Router- netgear r7000 Any help would be appreciated

    does ethernet xbox one download faster?

    and I were actually talking about this the other day.

    In both of our situations, our NAT is moderate via wifi, but open via ethernet cable.

    Sort of on topic: Will ethernet open up the NAT? Just changed routers and my NAT is now moderate vs. open before.

    Moderate Nat

    Is it in call of duty the NAT is moderate or the dashboard?

    If it's call of duty then make sure you have forwarded UDP/TCP port 3075

    The TG862 is a gateway meaning it is also a router. Having another router (your Netgear) causes what is known as double NAT. Basically two firewall between your console and the internet. Your Netgear is a very capable router so in this case I would suggest
    that you contact your Internet Service Provider and ask them to bridge the Arris. Or contact our support and ask them to assist you in contacting your ISP for this request.

    Another quick one do I need to open ports on both the router and the gateway/ modem? If not bridging is the next step

    Moderate Nat

    Portforward chains can work but bridging is going to be the fix you want.

    Ok after I have it bridged should I leave the ports forwarded and everything I did?

    The netgear should be able to handle it through UPnP alone. At most you will want to change the NAT filtering from secured to open. It can be found in Advanced>Wan Settings.

    Also happening on Ps4.

    Both my 360 and ps3 have been open for years.

    Now I can't get off moderate .

    Must be a next gen thing,

    I seem to be finding games and playing ok tho

    The Nat issue is on Microsoft's end. I've been showing "strict" for the last several days and it's never been an issue before.

    Depending on your router/firewall port forwarding is easy to set up in most cases but the reason your not finding lots of information on how to do it is that we don't normally have to anymore. I'm a PC gamer and it used to be a common occurrence having to open
    ports for multiplayer but with modern routers I don't think I've had to do it in probably 7 or 8 years.

    It's just another one of those things we are waiting for Microsoft to fix.

    Try to test your connection on the Xbox, most times when my NAT would go to moderate I would test my connection and it would open it up. If that doesn't work it will be a problem with your modem. You can google solutions on how to fix it.
