Misspelt Gamertag

Hi There,

I recently got my first Xbox for Christmas and in the rush to get it up and running, I incorrectly spelt my Gamertag, missing a letter. I understand that you get one free gamertag name change, but I keep getting prompted to pay for it? What would you reccommend
I do, can someone help change it.

The problem is I entered , when it should be nathanial91

Hi,

In many cases this happens when the email address is spelt incorrectly. Try and log into the other Gamertag and double check the spelling for each letter so that you are sure that it is not misspelt the Email address.

If it is a case where you have misspelt it, type in the misspelt email and use the same password you would of used with the original email. Try on Xbox.com first to see if it is the same Gamertag, if so do a recovery but clear the system cache first.

You have had your one free change. XBOX considers your custom gamertag selection your free change. It does seem a little confusing. Happy Gaming!

 

As genesis said, you already used your change when you created your tag. You can either pay to change your tag or create a new account with the correct spelling.

It is not a con. Sure mistakes are made but unfortunately many times there are consequences for those mistakes. Unfortunately, this is one of those times.
