Missing worlds from iPad

My daughter needed to update her iPad and needed to delete a few things for space. She’s done this before without problems. The problem now is that all her worlds are gone. She has her skins but all her worlds are gone. Please can you help. The last backup of her iPad was from this morning before she deleted the app.

You can try recovering the worlds (if the backup contains this data) restoring a previous backup in your iPad

Minecraft doesn't store the worlds "in the cloud" so that multiple devices can access one world.

If you have a world stored on your iPad, the Switch will NOT automatically have the world, even if you use the same Microsoft Account.

Your son can either "visit" the world on the iPad with the Switch, while the iPad is running Minecraft at that time through Multiplayer.

If you really want to have the world shared across both devices, your only option is to "rent" a realm that you have to pay for in monthly subscription fees.

Or if your son is okay with transferring the world from one device (e.g. iPad to the Switch and only play on the Switch from then on), you could use a free trial for Realms to transfer the world over.

To do that, your son activates a Realm subscription with a free trial on iOS, and uploads the desired world to the Realm service.

Then he connects the Switch to the same Realm, and downloads the world to his Switch.

Then you cancel the Realm subscription via

Only your main save game is put in the cloud, these worlds are local files and are not saved. You can however save backups in cloud storage like OneDrive, which you get limited amounts of with your microsoft account.

The world is only saved in the cloud if you purchase a Mojang Realms subscription. So you level up the world and have access to it on any platform.

It will still work after you cancel, just make sure to download the world from Realms on your device. But of course the progress won't sync between devices anymore. Like for example if you made changes on the world from your iPad, that won't show up on PS because it is no longer in Realms.

As far as I remember, when I used my trial on iPad I had an option to like turn off renewal so when the trial runs out you will not be charged. It will just expire on its own. I'm not 100% sure, try to check.

You can check in your iPad settings > account > subscription.
