if you want it for free just do microsoft rewards and earn the 12000 points to get game pass ultimate, its definitely possible to glean enough points throughout the month to get it, and its game pass and gold all wrapped into one convenient bundle.

just do microsoft rewards and stack up 12000 points which you can do in less than a month and you can buy game pass ultimate and never have to spend money again if you keep doing it, right now i have game pass ultimate until december 1st 2020, and i'll
continue to have it, so perhaps you should do that.

I'm hoping there would be an option to redeem rewards points for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, redeeming for gold and game pass will still work. If you've an active ultimate subscription, you will still get some months added to it but it will be less
than what you redeemed for via gold or game pass.

I mean that it is on auto redeem for a free month using points. When you go to Microsoft Rewards on the Xbox and click redeem, it gives you an option to auto redeem the the Ultimate game pass for 10,500 points

I redeemed 12000 points for the code. I am on console and I have had game pass for years. This occurred when I redeemed this code just a day or two ago.

It just tells me that I need game pass ultimate to play the games, but that is what I have.
