    Minor stick drift out of the box


    Series controller, on PC (don't have an xbox). I used a gamepad tester on the web and apparently both sticks have very slight drift already. I plugged in my old third party controller from a year ago and its own drift was negligible compared to the new one. I have attached the screenshot showing the result of the new controller when sitting still on the desk. Don't know why it says 360 controller but that's irrelevant.

    The old one showed values +/- 0.00002 on each stick when idle. The new, genuine controller shows considerably higher values, as you can see in the picture. As of now, the drift isn't apparent within a game since they're still quite low numbers but I would like to know if this is a sign of a faulty component and whether I should get it replaced while I can. I have a few more days in which I can send it back. If this thing keeps growing worse even with careful usage, I would be screwed. Can someone tell me of this level of drifting occurs in all controllers (brand new) or if it's really a defective part? I'd really appreciate some advice from someone who's had this before.

    Will I have to pay for the shipping? And will microsoft charge me for repairs even though the controller is supposedly under warranty for one more month, as mentioned under devices list? The validity of this warranty is uncertain because I have never heard of them giving any to people who don't own an xbox. I am confused and don't have enough info to make a decision. It would suck if I paid for shipping and then they ask for more money to repair the controller that was broken from the start. I still got a few days left to make use of amazon's replacement policy.

    Hi there Sarath! Christopher here, an Xbox fan and been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. If you are experiencing difficulties with your new controller I highly recommend sending it to repair! I did with my Elite Controller a year ago!     In my case do to COVID the process was a little bit slow, but worth it! My controller has worked wonders since then!

    They won't charge you if the warranty is up. But I would recommend making use of Amazon's replacement policy!

    If you are having problems with stick drift I recommend calling Microsoft to check the controller(s) warranty status and scheduling a repair.
